bwin app follows a similar aesthetic to other Entain brands, with a light mode theme that utilises black, white, and yellow. General navigation is smooth and user-friendly, and my betting experience in the app is rather straightforward without major hiccups.

bwin app homepage is unusual in that it does not have a promotional banner in its homepage. None at all. I think this has to be the first betting app I've seen so far that does not try to promote its offers in the homepage above the fold.

It however does something else that I found appalling — a little wheel on the middle left side of the screen, which entices users to either tap on it, or eventually tap on it accidentally should they choose it ignore me (like I did). Tapping on it brings out a virtual roulette game, if you're wondering. This is, in my opinion, a faux pas when it comes to advertising, also known as Curiosity Gap (or clickbait).

The app also provides a search functionality, which you can access by tapping on the Find button in the menu bar below. Searching for "Liverpool" for example returns just the name of the team, and you'll have to tap the name to look at upcoming events. Personally I prefer that the events are displayed straight in the search results, instead of needing to go one level deeper.

Responsiveness

The app is responsive. Feedback is relatively instant, and navigation between pages has not let me down, averaging 1.1s even in live events.

It took 2.8s to load up the homepage from the time when I opened the app, but that does not include native biometric authentication (Face ID). bwin app does include Face ID, but it does not use it to authenticate you if your session isn't expired yet. I believe that safe betting apps should always require Face ID every time the app is opened, and bwin has failed to do so.

Customisation

bwin comes with a bunch of customisation options, probably the most I've ever tested among betting apps. For bettors that love toggling or choosing light and dark mode, rejoice. bwin has a Night mode that is hidden within Settings. To access it, tap your person icon to navigate to Account page, tap Settings, then tap Night mode, which is the equivalent of dark mode.

We are not finished yet, as bwin also provides bettors with default stake customisation options, amongst other betting customisations. From Account page, tap Betting Settings. You can customise a bunch of bet-related settings such as Betslip, Cash Out, Odds Display, Quick bet, and Stake Changes. This is big — I've never seen this level of customisation in dozens of betting apps that I've reviewed thus far.

Placing a bet

To place a bet, tap a selection, open your Betslip, and place your bet.

The default stake is already pre-inputted, and the app provides an in-app numeric pad that provides a quick increment feature as well. bwin app is really scoring points here with everything I wanted.

Bet builders are easy as well. Tap on an event, then pick your selections, and you're ready to place your bet in your Betslip. There is a dedicated Build a Bet tab, but it is not necessary.
